Who am I?

Hey there, I am a pastor in Northern California, graduated in 2005 from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN (Go Saints!). I put this together to let the people in the congregation and everyone else who cares to, have a glimpse inside my head as I go through the activities, joys and struggles of ministry.

Pastor Tim I have a wonderful wife Debbie and a delightful daughter named Caitlyn who is 6. Debbie and I are from Alaska, but Caitlyn is from Minnesota (we love her anyway).

Several classmates put together blogs as a way of communicating with each other and, ever the early-adopter, I jumped right in.

I maintain another blog called Askthefatguy which has a different feel altogether. it is about food, the enjoyment of same and the preparation of good food in a packaged world. Since I live in Sonoma County, most of the entries are about restaurants there though I do throw in some from my past now and then.

  1. Dear Tim,
I’ve just come across your blog here at WordPress. Thank you for the kind comments about “Generations of Faith.” I’m gratified to find someone finding it a useful tool in congregational ministry.

I’m interested in your idea of having your church leadership/congregation read the book (Sales! Ka-ching!), but I’d also like to express my willingness to come out to your congregation/synod/clergy cluster/community to lead a presentation/seminar on the whole thing. I’ve been making keynotes and leading workshops on this topic since 1997 (which led me to eventually write the book) and have now moved into the PowerPoint age (actually Keynote, on the superior operating system!)

Depending on your interests, I have seminars on Leadership (“Jesus for Every Generation”), Stewardship (“Money Talks”-Using Generational Ideas for Stewardship), Youth Ministry (“Jesus for a NEW Generation”), and Communication (“Tell the Gospel Well”)–especially good for educators, website admin., newsletter writers, etc. For travel expenses and a daily fee (depending on what you’d like, from $200 for a workshop, to $600/ day for all day events–retreats, etc.) I’d be delighted to come. Let me know if a retreat/ Congregational seminar day/ synodical event would work for you.

God’s blessings on you in your work.

    Shalom,

    Carl
